Celebrating the life of

Teresa (Marge) Quigley Langston

January 31, 1934 - April 26, 2024

Teresa (Marge) Quigley Langston

Teresa (Marge) Langston

Marge was born January 31, 1934, in St Johns, Newfoundland and passed away peacefully at her home in Savannah, Friday, April 26, 2024, surrounded by family who loved her dearly.

She was affectionally known by many names – Teresa, Marge, Mom, Gigi, Grand-Marge, Marg.

Marge married the love of her life, Mason Lee Langston MSGT USAF at Pepperrell Air Force Base on March 17, 1954, and they had five children. She was widowed at the young age of 36 while living in Fairbanks, Alaska. She moved back to Savannah, GA where she devoted herself to providing for and raising her five children who were ages 4 – 13 at the time.

She worked at Hunter AAF in various positions at the Golf Course, Skeet Range, Bowling Alley and Recreation Center where she had the joy of arranging travel for military families to Disney and other exciting destinations. After she retired from Hunter AAF, she started a new career with Radio Reading for the Blind where she managed volunteers reading newspapers over special radios given to the blind. In her spare time, she volunteered at the Mighty Eighth Airforce Museum.

All who knew Marge felt the love she had for everyone. Anyone who walked through her door was considered family. Her home was always the gathering place for her children and all their friends. The welcome mat was always at the door.

Marge is pre-deceased by: her husband, Mason L Langston; son, Robert (Bobby) Langston; daughter, Frances Ann Langston Pelli; son in law, Terrance (Terry) Pelli; sister & brother-in-law, Helen and Otis Merritt of Savannah, brother, Robert Quigley; sister & brother-in-law, Mary and Hayward Peddle and brother-in-law, Mike O’Keefe; Parents, Emma (O’Neill) and Frank Quigley of Newfoundland.

Marge is survived by: daughters, Teresa Langston Galloway (Joe) of Florida and Debbie Langston; son, Perry Langston (Karen); daughter-in-law, Sandy Langston all of Savannah; two sisters, Alice O’Keefe and Ann McCarthy (Dennis); sister-in-law, Grace Quigley all of Newfoundland Canada; two grandchildren, Mason Galloway (Sarah) and Robyn Pelli Holland and six great grandchildren, as well as many nieces & nephews in both the States and Newfoundland.

The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the friendship and loving care of Debbie Yanner and BJ the Dog as well as outstanding care from Coastal Care Partners and Hospice Savannah. May God continue to bless and keep Father Daniel Firmin for walking over in the rain to pray for our mother and administer the last rites.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 29th from 5 – 7 pm at Fox & Weeks Funeral Home on Hodgson Memorial Dr. There will be a private family burial at Beaufort National Cemetery on Tuesday, April 30th.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice Savannah Foundation, PO Box 13190, Savannah GA 31416 or National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Airforce, 75 Bourne Ave, Pooler GA 31322.

GUEST BOOK

I had the pleasure of knowing Marge thru The Radio Readers Program on Bull Street. My brother, son and I were all volunteers who read the newspaper and occasional magazine articles over the radio to those who had diminished or no eyesight. Marge was passionate about her work that provided "eyes" to the blind. Rest in Peace Marge.

So sorry to hear of Marge Passing. (I just now read this) We lost touch, but our children all grew up together. Some fond memories of time shared. She will be greatly missed. Thinking of the family with prayers.

My dearest Debbie, Perry and Teresa I love y'all! I'm so very sorry about GrandMarge- I loved her like a mom from the time I was 5. I don't know how to get in touch any other way, but please call me Debbie or Perry when you have come to a peaceful place (352-270-2318). I know your hearts hurt right now but I know Marge would want you all to savor the love and the memories you each have with the best mom anywhere. My love and prayers are with you all- The "other" Theresa and David

I have such sweet childhood memories of Mrs. Langston. She was always so warm and welcoming! My sincere sympathy goes out to her loved ones!

- Marie Valentino Darling, Port Royal , SC

Perry and Karen and Langston family. I share Marie Valentino's sentiments. I didn't know your mom well, but I remember she was a warm and very kind person. She was also clearly a woman of strength. What a blessing to have Fr. Firmin right next door. It is beautiful that your mom was able to receive the last rites and die in Jesus' merciful embrace.
